SPRING’S STORY |
 |
Spring probably
spent several days roaming the streets in 100F weather on just 3 legs
before she was picked up by the Arizona Humane Society. She spent another
10 days in their shelter before they called Almost Home to rescue her.
Her X-rays revealed a complete break in her back right hind leg. She is
SUCH a fighter! She dealt with this broken leg and beat the odds to stay
alive long enough for Almost Home Boxer Rescue to save her. That is how
Spring was SPRUNG! |
 |
Thank goodness for
Dr. Mackenzie and his staff at Foothills Animal Hospital in Ahwatukee! He
was able to save her leg by surgically implanting pins, a rod, and a
fixator. When she woke up the next day at her foster home, she was
scared, disorientated, and incredibly wobbly-- but in true Boxer fashion,
after a few minutes her little nub was just a wagging! |
 |
While our rescues recover from treatment, they reside in a loving foster home until they are ready for adoption! True to her name, she springs around on 3 legs and is gaining her strength back more each day. Spring will be on bed rest for the next 4 weeks as she recovers from her traumatic first year of life. So far, we know she likes cats and other dogs, but doesn't enjoy the crate...yet. |

|
Almost Home Rescue is recruiting foster homes to temporarily care for
homeless dogs, just like Spring. Spring could have been a statistic –
another addition to the unnecessary deaths at kill shelters. Thanks to
the fantastic foster homes at Almost Home Boxer Rescue, Spring will
hopefully be ready to find her new forever home in October!

UPDATE: Since this
bio was originally posted, Spring has been adopted. :-)
